Cell-based Assays

IBR Inc. has a longstanding experience in development, validation and operating cell-based assays. Our special expertise are bioassays using primary cells. These cells are isolated from a broad variety of human or mammalian tissues.

Depending on the application, primary cells are considered to deliver more physiological responses than transformed cell lines. However, primary cells are demanding with regard to cell culture and handling. The IBR Inc. scientists have vast know-how in management of primary cells to provide you with reliable and precise potency assays as well as mode of action assessments.

In addition, IBR Inc. offers bioassays using transformed cell lines and reporter gene assays. The services of IBR Inc. include a broad variety of endpoints like cell growth / apoptosis, cell signaling, migration & invasion, adhesion and many more.

The broad panel of IBR Inc.'s cell-based assays supports your drug developmental program from pre-clinical to clinical development. The cell-based assay services are also provided under the GxP Quality standards.

IBR Inc. invites you to discuss your special needs with our experts.

Our cell line panel

Our panel of cell lines includes but is not limited to:

  • HEK 293 (human), CHO (hamster), Jurkat (human), NK-92 (human), HL60 (human), A549 (human), HeLa (human), MRC-5 (human), THP-1 (human), 23ScCr (mouse), LADMAC (mouse), DU 145 (human), PC-3 (human), LNCap Clone FG-C (human), ECV-304 (human), WEHI 164 (mouse), L929 (mouse) BHK 21 (hamster), CV-1 (monkey), Hep G2 (human), BS-C-1 (monkey), TCC-SUP (human), 5637 (human), RT-112 (human), T-24 (human), T-47 D (human), Tera-1 (human), RAW 264.7 (mouse), KU812 (human) and many more.

Our reporter-gene cell systems

Reporter-gene cell lines are useful tools to analyse the effects of a compound on the activity of a specific promoter linked to a reporter gene that is encoding for a luciferase.

Immortal human type II bronchial epithelial cells that were obtained from lung carcinomatous tissue (A549) or human T lymphocytes obtained from an individual with acute lymphoma (Jurkat) have been stably transfected with vectors containing the neomycin resistance gene, the luciferase sequence and a broad panel of different promoter sequences (see Table below)

IBR Inc. offers development and validation of custom reporter gene assays using these cell lines. To learn more about these products and services please send an E-mail or give us a call.

We have broad experience in developing gene-reporter assays to support drug development of biopharmaceuticals, new small molecule drugs, cosmetics and food additives. In particular, we developed gene-reporter assays that enabled to assess anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory effects, allergic side effects as well as detection of previously unknown side effects.

Our technologies for cell-based assays

IBR Inc. sets high value on state-of the-art technologies for cell-based assays. We are capable to provide assay automation for increased reproducibility and throughput. For the readout of assay endpoints we offer single or multiplex formats. Leveraging a wide choice of readers and advanced technology platforms (see below) we are confident to provide you with cell-based assays tailored to your specific requirements.
